Microsoft’s search engine blocked in China

Microsoft’s Bing search engine has been blocked in China, becoming the latest example of restrictions to internet access in the country.

“We’ve confirmed that Bing is currently inaccessible in China and are engaged to determine next steps,” Microsoft said in a statement to Reuters.

The news outlet reported that searches on Bing’s China website from within the country redirect to a page that says the server cannot be reached. Bing was the only major foreign search engine accessible from within China prior to Thursday.
