What is your forecast for the future of cybersecurity for global data providers?

I forecast that global data providers will move toward a “data minimization” era where the liability of holding massive, multi-million record databases will finally outweigh the perceived business value. We are going to see a massive shift toward decentralized identity management, where companies no longer store sensitive user IDs and credentials on their own servers, thereby removing the “honey pot” that attracts hackers. However, as providers harden their own walls, attackers will focus even more aggressively on the 1.2 million or more vulnerable endpoints within the supply chain. The future of the industry won’t be defined by who has the best firewall, but by who can most effectively manage the sprawling, interconnected web of third-party risks that define the modern digital economy.
