In order to coup with this problem hosting companies are developing new domain names such as .me, .fm, .tv and more. But over the past few years some companies are trying to establish a separate domain for adult industry and keep other websites clean from its explicit contents. There are many advantages of such domain such as parents can restrict their children from accessing these domains. It also allows companies and individuals to keep their website and online business free from explicit content. These domains were introduced by ICM Registry in 2005 and it was largely criticized by the authorities.
But in last few years individuals and companies have registered domains with names of celebrities and notable personalities such as Beyonce.xxx, JustinTimberlake.xxx, KimKardashian.xxx, etc. Later these domain names were banned from the market and webmaster could no longer register .xxx domains with names of popular personalities.
The ICM Registry handles all .xxx and has not revealed the list of banned domains. The company also handle complains from individuals and companies having their names used with .xxx. It takes about three days of process and eventually blocks domain. Companies can also pay a fee of between $200 and $650 to makes sure that their brand name is not used.
