The FBI and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are working with Atlanta city officials after a cyberattack shut down many of the city’s computer systems.
City Chief Operating Officer Richard Cox told reporters that officials learned of the ransomware attack at 5:40 a.m. The hack encrypted some city data, officials said, but the municipality is still working to determine the extent of the hack and if any personal data has been compromised.
